Injuries to Children and Minors
Tennessee law provides recovery for children or minors and their parents who are injured or killed as a result of the negligence of other persons or companies. Children’s injuries may be more devastating because of the increased length of time they will have to endure their permanent injuries. Certain injuries children sustain may result in stunted growth, additional surgery to remove hardware including pins and rods.
Parents are entitled to recover the medical expenses paid or payable to health care providers and in the event of death, the loss of love and affection of the child as well as any assistance expected from the child.
Tennessee law only allows parents one year to file suit in order to preserve their cause of action for their losses pertaining to their children otherwise it is barred forever.
